Make research WAY easier with Serendip-o-matic!

Ok, this has got to be one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time.  I found it while browsing in the amazing Digital Public Library of America.  It's called Serendip-o-matic, and it's an app that will use the text you insert (so, your own research notes/paper, or an article you read, or a poem you like) and it will pull resources related to the WORDS in that text from all of the libraries and museums connected on the DPLA site.  So you'll end up with images, art, maps, diagrams, and even
more texts related to your ideas and research.  Amazing!

Tolog Questions, Vol.1

The following questions were posed by new Tologs during our new student orientation sessions.  The questions were submitted via the Library Services/Materials request form, linked on the Library's web page.  It's a great way to let me know you have a question or need my help.

What's your favorite food?
I think I have to say the cheeseburger is my favorite food, but not just any old cheeseburger.  It has to be something special for me to love it. Like maybe it's on a brioche bun, or has some delicious sauce on it.  No mustard though!  I don't enjoy pickles or ketchup on my burger either, which makes me kind of weird, I know.  My favorite burgers in LA are from The York in Highland Park, Fix Burger in Silver Lake, Atwater Crossing Kitchen in Atwater Village, and....I don't know.  There are so many! Tagliatelle al ragu is a big contender as well.  It's one of the most perfect dishes I've ever eaten.  Hard to find around here though.  Terroni is the best I've had in LA.

Do you give quizzes after we finish a book??
No way!  I give no quizzes at all.  :)

Also, can I come to you anytime when I need a book recommendation?
