Jason & Kyra

Dana Davidson’s Jason & Kyra shows us readers there is always hope no matter how ridiculous the situation may be. The story begins with Cross High’s basketball star, Jason Vincent. He is one of the most popular guys in school, dates one of the most popular girls in school, and constantly worries about what others think of him, unlike Kyra Evans. While Jason is known as the jock of the school, Kyra is known as the brainy one. The only class Kyra and Jason share together is AP English and of course, they got picked to do a research paper together.
When Kyra and Jason first got together to work on their rough draft, that is when Kyra came to the conclusion that she was wrong about Jason. Kyra was obviously not the only one with ideas because Jason came to the library, prepared with several notes, to share some of his own ideas. Throughout the book Kyra soon realizes that Jason was not at all who she thought he was. Jason and Kyra soon develop feelings for each other and after all were never as different as they thought they were. Kyra becomes a little apprehensive because she knows that Jason is “on top of the food chain” where Kyra is no where to even be seen in the food chain.
Sometimes us teenagers tend to judge a book by it’s cover and think negative thoughts, but no matter how different Kyra thought she was from Jason, she knew he liked her. He even broke up with Lisa, one of the most popular girls in school, just to show how much he likes Kyra. Overall, I really did enjoy this book because it lets us teenagers know that there is hope. It teaches us not to be so hard on ourselves all the time and know that whatever happens will be for a reason. This is definitely one of the best books I have ever read and I definitely recommend reading it.
