Bryan Lee O'Malley is a fabulous cartoonist who created the Scott Pilgrim series. In his new novel, Seconds, a woman named Katie who own the restaurant called Seconds wants to open a new one in the city. However she starts to notice a ghostly girl, whom she can only see, and red mushrooms. These events have changed her life forever. This is my top pick because the book really got me interested in the events that unfolded.

Lackadaisy is an ongoing online web comic by Tracy J. Butler. Lackadaisy is set in the east coast in the 20s; unlike your normal gangster run 1920s city, everybody is a cat. The reason I loved this book because it was so cleverly written to fit each character's dialogue, and the author gave the book a mature edge that really sets the mood of a gangster run city. The art is also very unique with its beautiful pencil drawn characters.

But this summer is different. Rose's mom and dad won't stop fighting, and when Rose and Windy seek a distraction from the drama, they find themselves with a whole new set of problems.
