Eleanor and Park… a Love Story Anticipated by All

In Rainbow Rowell’s Eleanor and Park young adults acquire an understanding for what it truly means to be in love. Rowell teaches us “love isn’t something you find. Love is something that finds you” (Loretta Young). Her relatable characters give the reader a chance to see the world in a whole new way. A way in which they can discover who they are and who they want to be. Rowell’s understanding of young adults and the meaning of love create a novel that will leave you constantly wanting to turn the page and discover the fate of the two main characters, Eleanor and Park.

Rowell uses her own experiences to construct a world where young adults can view the lives of people their own age in relatable situations. Unlike other modern love novels this isn’t all about the happily ever after where everyone gets what they want. Rowell wrote this novel to enable teens to grasp the value of finding themselves in a world that often doesn’t accept who they want to be. Through her classic yet unique writing style she brings a whole new dynamic to the world of young adult literacy. She gives teens the opportunity to grow and flourish in their journey to finding love. The reader will be able to view these concepts of love and finding yourself in numerous characters, and in return learn more about themselves and the people in their lives.

Over all, this is a must read book for young adults who are seeking an astonishing love story that will keep them up all night turning the pages of a book. Through Rowell’s knowledge of past and present she creates a novel that will provide teens with the ability to find themselves in world that makes that almost impossible. Eleanor and Park is a timeless novel that should be read by all.
